Day 11 - The Perfect Body

Do YOU have the perfect body? And, who determines what "perfect" really is anyway? Well, my amazing husband found an incredible article on this very subject and showed it to me today. I just HAD to share it with you guys. It is all about how the "media" shapes our idea of what a "perfect" body looks like and the havoc it has and is causing among teenage girls and women.

Some interesting facts from the article:
  • Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14 jeans
  • 31% of girls world wide have anorexia
  • 56% of girls think their friends have better bodies than them

I would highly encourage everyone to read the article in its entirety. You can read it at: http://www.teenink.com/hot_topics/health/article/189697/How-do-you-spell-media-D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R/ I read every word of the article myself and found it to be mind boggling and a good reminder of how we can unknowingly be manipulated and even mentally and emotionally tormented by an unrealistic picture of what the media has depicted as beauty.

While on this quest to get our bodies back, I would encourage each of us to remember that our focus is to get a healthy and fit body, (which by the way, will look differently on each of us) AND to do it safely and slowly to help us be able to maintain it once we reach our goal. We also want to keep in mind that we don't need to be comparing ourselves to each other or any other media created/manipulated image that isn't even attainable in the first place without risking our health!

So, be encouraged gang! We can do this! We can and will get our bodies back, one pound at a time!

Until tomorrow ~ sweet and slender dreams!

Oh, one more thing - If you could please take a moment to click the cute little "We're on the fence!" button below. I would so appreciate it! It give us a vote on the PicketFenceBlogs.com rankings and the higher our rankings, the more visibility we get in order to reach more peeps! ;-) Thanks so much!
